Checkup Indonesia Checkup Indonesia

A finding aid for the panels that appear on Indonesian checkup summaries — written for readers without a medical background.

SCREENING PANELS EXPLAINED IN PLAIN TERMS

A checkup summary is a list of test names, numbers, and reference ranges. Half of it reads as noise if you did not study biology past school. This page walks through the panels and markers that appear on real Indonesian package tables, in the words those tables use.

It is an educational document. It does not interpret your personal results — that conversation belongs with a clinician who can see your history.

Measurements, not verdicts

Every item below produces a number or a note that sits next to a reference range. The range is a statistical band drawn from a reference population, not a personal target — a point that matters more than any single figure on the page.

Two clocks run at once

Some tests describe a single morning. Others describe a season. Knowing which is which tells you why a package bundles fasting glucose with HbA1c instead of picking one.

Fasting changes the reading

Fasting glucose and a lipid profile are the two items most sensitive to what you ate. Turn up having eaten and those results are not usable for comparison.

Where PSA sits

Prostate-specific antigen appears often in men's package tables in Indonesia, usually grouped with urine-flow testing and other prostate-focused items. What a given value means for you is a clinical question, not a table lookup.

Not everything is a blood draw

Audiometry, urine testing, and stool analysis turn up in fuller formats alongside the lab work. They are also the items men most often skip when given the option.

Public and private, same markers

A blood-pressure cuff reads the same in a community health centre and an executive suite. The panel names below travel across both settings, which is why the vocabulary is worth learning once.

How to use this page

Read it once before your next checkup and you will recognise most of the column headings on the package table. Each panel below is described in three moves: what the test physically measures, why it appears in the formats it appears in, and what condition has to be true for the result to be comparable with last year's.

Where a panel is named in a specific Indonesian package — the male executive screening package in Bali we reviewed, or the Primaya Men's Health Check Up Gold package — that is noted, because seeing the term in a real table is how most readers meet it first.

The baseline pair

Blood pressure and fasting glucose

Blood pressure

pemeriksaan tekanan darah

The least glamorous test and the most useful. A cuff goes on your arm and you get two numbers: systolic over diastolic. It is included in almost every screening format, public or private, and it appears explicitly in government guidance for younger men.

One reading is a snapshot. Coffee, stress, and whether you rushed to the clinic all push the number around. Repeated readings over months are what clinicians actually use, which is also why a single high reading at a screening event usually leads to a request to measure again rather than a conclusion.

Fasting glucose

gula darah puasa

This measures blood sugar after a period without eating, which is why the fasting instruction matters. It is a standard item in both basic panels and executive formats, including the male executive screening package in Bali we reviewed. The test is cheap, fast, and comparable year to year, so it survives every round of package redesign.

If you eat before the draw, the result is not usable. Not wrong — unusable. There is no way to correct for it afterwards, and rebooking the test is the only clean fix.

One short window, one long one

HbA1c

Where fasting glucose shows a moment, HbA1c reflects an average over roughly the preceding two to three months. It appears in executive packages alongside fasting glucose, and the pairing is deliberate: one short window, one long window.

It requires no fasting, which makes it convenient, but that convenience cuts both ways. Because it averages a season of blood sugar rather than a single morning, it cannot be gamed by a good night's sleep, a skipped breakfast, or a careful week before the appointment. Package tables in Indonesia list it as a premium-tier item, and it is usually the line item that separates a mid-range format from an executive one.

If you are reading your own summary and both numbers appear, the useful question is not which is more accurate. They answer different questions, and neither substitutes for the other.

The two markers men ask about most

These two sit at the centre of almost every men's package conversation in Indonesia, for different reasons. One is a core preventive term on the package table. The other is a clinical question people try to answer from a table.

Lipid profile

profil lipid

A lipid profile measures fats in the blood, typically total cholesterol plus subcomponents like HDL and LDL, and sometimes triglycerides. It is listed in men's executive screening packages in Bali and appears alongside cholesterol subcomponents in package tables.

In Indonesian package marketing it functions as a core preventive term rather than an optional add-on — you will rarely see a men's format without it. Like glucose, it depends on fasting to be comparable with your previous result, and the subcomponents matter more than the total on its own. A total figure tells you there is a fa reading; HDL, LDL, and triglycerides tell you the shape of it.

PSA

tes PSA

Prostate-specific antigen is a protein measured by a blood test, and it appears constantly in men's package tables, often grouped with urine and prostate-focused assessments.

The Primaya Men's Health Check Up Gold package includes PSA Total alongside urine-flow testing and sperm analysis, marketed toward men over 35. It is also named in private male screening packages in Indonesia more generally. What a given PSA value means for you is a clinical question, not a table lookup — the test names the marker, not the answer.

The items that are not a blood test

A checkup is broader than a blood draw. These four turn up in fuller male screening formats, and they are also the ones most often skipped when a package gives you the option — usually because nobody explains what the item is for.

Urine testing

pemeriksaan urine

Urinalysis checks a sample for things that should not be there in quantity, such as protein, blood, or glucose. It is inexpensive, non-invasive, and bundled into nearly every format, from basic panels to executive bundles.

A male executive screening package in Bali lists stool analysis alongside it, which is a common pairing at the fuller end of the range.

Liver and kidney markers

Executive packages typically add blood markers that reflect liver and kidney function. These appear in the same Bali executive package that lists fasting glucose, HbA1c, lipid profile, and PSA.

They are not a diagnosis of organ disease. They are signals about how those systems are behaving at the time of the draw. Repeat testing, not a single result, is what makes them informative.

Stool analysis

A stool test looks for signs that a digestive or intestinal issue deserves attention. It shows up in fuller male screening formats, including the Bali executive package.

It is one of the items men most often skip when given the option, partly because the collection is inconvenient and partly because they do not know what it is for. Skipping it removes a data point from the panel; nothing else on the summary replaces it.

Audiometry

Not every screening item involves blood. Audiometry, a hearing assessment, appears in a male comprehensive package in Bali alongside imaging and lab tests.

It is a useful reminder that some of the most commonly overlooked items are the ones nobody markets heavily. If your package lists it, the appointment will include it — usually a short session with headphones and a set of tones.

What a reference range is not

Every number on your summary sits next to a range. Those ranges are statistical bands derived from a reference population, not personal targets. A value slightly outside a range is often a prompt to repeat the test, not a finding.

Two consequences follow from that. First, a flagged number is a reason to ask a question at your follow-up appointment, not a reason to draw conclusions at home. Second, comparing your own trend across two or three years tells a clinician more than any single visit's figures, which is why the fasting conditions on the sensitive panels are worth protecting year after year.

Talking about your specific numbers with a clinician who can see your history is the only sensible way to use them. This page can tell you what a panel measures; it cannot tell you what your panel means.

Questions readers send in

Does fasting matter for every test on this list?

No. Fasting glucose and a lipid profile are the main items affected by recent eating, which is why checkups involving them come with a fasting instruction. HbA1c does not require fasting. Blood pressure, urine, and audiometry are unaffected. Getting the fasting window right for the tests that need it is worth the mild inconvenience.

What is the difference between fasting glucose and HbA1c?

Fasting glucose measures blood sugar at a single moment after a period without food. HbA1c reflects an average over roughly the previous two to three months. They are often bundled in executive packages precisely because they answer different questions, and one cannot substitute for the other. Reading them side by side gives a short window and a long window in one report.

Is PSA included in standard men's packages in Indonesia?

It appears frequently. PSA is named in private male screening packages, and it is listed in the Primaya Men's Health Check Up Gold package alongside urine-flow testing and sperm analysis, which is marketed toward men over 35. Whether it belongs in your panel is a conversation with your clinician.

Should I worry about a result outside the reference range?

Not on its own. Reference ranges describe a statistical band, and values slightly outside it are frequently repeated before anything further is considered. A flagged number is a reason to ask a question at your follow-up appointment, not a reason to draw conclusions at home. Interpretation belongs with a clinician who has your history.

Where to go next

If you have a package table in front of you, the schedule pages translate the panel names into age bands. If your summary has already arrived, the guide to reading it walks through how the document is put together. For anything about your own numbers, bring the question to your follow-up appointment or to the clinic directly.
